Travelling in groups on board our historic trains is an original and authentic experience at the heart of the railway history of the Baie de Somme. Embark on an unforgettable journey at 25 km/h, the peaceful rhythm of the railways of yesteryear, and let yourself be seduced by the magic of the preserved landscapes of the Bay.

Plunge into a real flashback, until 1887, when the Economic Railways connected Noyelles-sur-Mer, Le Crotoy, Saint-Valery-sur-Somme and Cayeux-sur-Mer. At the time, these trains constituted an essential link between the seaside resorts, transporting passengers and goods: pebbles, beets, shells... A living heritage that we invite you to rediscover in group.

Imagine the passage on the wooden pier that once allowed to cross the bottom of the bay. Close your eyes and listen to the clatter of wheels on the rails, like the first travelers amazed by the unique beauty of the Somme Bay.

In the 1960s, the network faced challenges due to the rise of the road. But in 1970, a handful of enthusiasts founded the Association du Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme: their mission is to preserve this exceptional heritage and bring back to life steam locomotives and vintage cars.

Even today, these volunteers and rail lovers restore, maintain and run these historic trains in order to offer visitors an authentic immersion in the railway past.

Embark from the charming stations of Le Crotoy, Saint-Valery-sur-Somme or Cayeux-sur-Mer for an immersive railway adventure through the Bay of Somme.

An immersion in the travels of yesteryear
Travelling on board the CFBS is to rediscover the atmosphere of former trains at a leisurely pace of 25 km/h: rattling of the rails, swinging of the train, whistle of the locomotive and the conductor, smell of coal...
The train crossing the interior of the bay, you will not see the sea, but you will enjoy a great diversity of landscapes: salt meadows, meadows, fields, mollières, marshes, without forgetting the hunting huts, witnesses of a very strong local tradition.
Depending on the season, one can observe: ducks, swans, shelducks, water-fowls, egrets, herons, storks, but also Henson horses, pre-salted sheep or cattle farms.

Enrich the experience by opting for a guided trip on board the train. A guide from the Association will be present to share the history, railway heritage and secrets of the landscapes crossed.
